The Part of Love We Keep Trying to Translate

I keep thinking about how easy it is to call confusion depth. Maybe because confusion gives us something to solve. Something to hold. If I can just understand the silence, the distance, the sudden change in temperature, then maybe I can turn it back into tenderness. Writing around the world of GEMINI LOVE LANGUAGE stirred that up for me. The two truths we carry at once. I want you close. I need room. I believe you. I am still afraid. I know what I deserve. I am not ready to let go. We act like contradiction means dishonesty, but sometimes contradiction is the most honest thing in the room. I have been sitting with the difference between understanding someone's heart and excusing what their hands keep doing. Those are not the same. I can understand fear. I can understand why a person learned to disappear when love became too real. I can have compassion for the walls. But I do not have to live outside them forever, knocking until my knuckles forget they were made for more than begging. That is the hard part. Some love does not fail because it was fake. It fails because feeling is not the only thing a relationship needs. It needs language. It needs courage. It needs two people willing to say, this is what happens inside me when you pull away. This is what I need. This is what I can give. This is where I cannot follow you without losing myself. I wanted to write into that middle. Not the clean ending where everybody learns the lesson at exactly the right time. The real middle. The place where you can love someone and still be tired. Where you can see their softness and still believe your own pain. Where nobody has to become a monster for you to choose yourself. If you recognize yourself in this, I want you to know that needing clarity does not make you difficult. Feeling deeply does not make you too much. Having two sides does not make you false. But you are responsible for learning your own language. Say what hurts. Say what helps. Say what love looks like when it is not being performed for an audience. Then pay attention to who listens, who learns, and who keeps asking you to translate your needs into silence. I am still learning that the right connection will not require me to erase half of myself just to make the sentence easier to read.
